Sunday football
Another nine months of ups, downs, toil and speculation boils down to one last down to be confirmed, along with the league winners. For us, at least seventh place and a European semi-final makes this the best season for donkey’s years. All games kick off at 1600.

ARSENAL vs EVERTON
Arsenal occupied the bottom three early in the season, Everton late in the season. Now both are safe, with Arsenal looking set for a fifth place finish – unless they win and Spurs lose. Unlikely, but the last day is often full of odd stuff. Home win.

BRENTFORD vs LEEDS UNITED
Poor old Leeds. For a while, they looked safe. Now, they need Lady Luck doing her stuff in West London and the northwest. Unlikely, again. Pity. Tara, luv. Tara. Draw.

BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION vs WEST HAM UNITED
Lawro, who made his bearded name at Brighton, has this down as a draw. That wouldn’t be enough to pip Man U to a UEFA Cup spot, if they fail to win at Palace. Nothing but a win will do that. The game probably marks Mark Noble’s last game for us. He scored his first West Ham goal against Brighton (in 2007) and another today would give a neat final symmetry to his career in claret and blue. Brighton have bene up and down in recent weeks, at times winning against the odds, then spoiling it all with an abject performance against a bottom three team. That sounds painfully familiar. As for Lawro, he may just have it right today. But why change the habit of a lifetime? Away win.

BURNLEY vs NEWCASTLE UNITED
Before they struck oil, Newcastle were considered more likely than Burnley to be playing in the Championship next season. Burnley have home advantage, but the Barcodes will want to show their metal in preparation for next season – which is going to be a lot different from this. An early goal for either side will set the tone for what promises to be an emotional afternoon. Whatever happens. Draw.

CHELSEA vs WATFORD
An irrelevance that has to be played. Expect double figures. Home win.

CRYSTAL PALACE vs MANCHESTER UNITED
2-0 up at half time, but leave with null points? And that against a relegation-threatened side. Patrick Viera will not be a happy man. Time to put things right. His Palace team can play, there’s no doubt about that. And with several league positions riding on the outcome, perhaps there’s sufficient incentive for the Eagles (or the Glaziers – anyone remember that?) to put I one last superhuman effort. Let’s hope so. Home win.

LEICESTER CITY vs SOUTHAMPTON
Let’s see what these clubs’ reserves are like. Draw.

LIVERPOOL vs WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS
For Liverpool, it’s a must win. For Wolves, it doesn’t matter much what happens. One of the two easiest games to predict today. Home win.

MANCHESTER CITY vs ASTON VILLA
The other of the day’s two easiest games to predict. Despite all the talk of Stevie Gee doing it for his beloved Reds, it’s not going to happen, is it? The title is heading for the Etihad. Home win.

NORWICH CITY vs TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR
Freed from the shackles of necessity or expectation, Norwich have absolutely nothing to lose against Spurs. An unexpected win today will probably see them finish the campaign not bottom. But Conte won’t be having any of that. No, mama, no way. Away win.

You don't really believe both Leeds and the Bees will draw, you just can't bring yourself to make a call. Bit strange, but never mind, eh.

I will go a Bees win and a Toon win.

Villa will be lambs to the slaughter at City. Liverpool have zero chance.

Thanks for doing these this season.

Manuel, you can be a right prick at times. Are you aware that a draw is one of the three possible outcomes of a game of football?

You're not building any tension or excitement for the Super Sunday cliff hanging, down to the wire title battle. What's the point of having the chopper in the air with the Premier League trophy when you believe it's a foregone conclusion?

Yeah this thread is good value, we can all give impartial views on the rest of the weekends games, with interesting comments at times.

We’ll done for sticking to it Coffee, as Always

Yes... Palace were the Glaziers ...probably in the hope they would get the contract to replace the windows after the original building burnt down in the 30s. I used to get Palace confused with Coventry cos they had a keeper called Bill . Glazier. If ManU win we can always say it was dodgy cos they are owned by the Glazers. I do expect Man U to win though - the only favour we ever got from Palace was selling us Johnny Byrne.

Having your chopper in the air is nether a safe nor an appealing proposition.

I wonder how Leeds will play it? Be defensive and hope for a breakaway? Not under Bielsa they wouldn't have. I think Brentford will win that and they will be distraught.

I think we will win and Man U will lose. I fucking loved the Europa league this year. The away fans were proper and a breath of fresh air.

You bottled it. End of.

Bill Glazier initially played for Palace before moving to Coventry

All eyes on the Amex and selhurst park. Surely Vieira will have his team well up for this one against his most hated opposition, won’t he?

Of course we have to do the business and beat Brighton which we incredibly haven’t managed in nine matches. Today surely is the day!

Elsewhere I’d love Liverpool to lose out in the cruelest way possible, but they seem to have the luck of the devil this season so I’m bracing myself for the horror of a ‘miracle’ win and a fucking quadruple, and years of the scouse infested media harping on about it.

Leeds or Burnley? Good riddance to either. I guess I’d prefer Leeds in case it helps us snap up Phillips. If Burnley survive this time I feel it’s only a matter of time until they drop anyway.

Arsenal have equalled spurs in the cunt stakes under Arteta. Normally I’d want spurs to fail but I couldn’t give a shit this time.

Should be an entertaining afternoon to follow it all.

Yes, a hearty thanks, Coffee, for a great season’s work with these threads. The effort is certainly appreciated by me, and I think just about everyone on here.

IF we do finish above Man Utd, it will be the first time since 1986.
Anyone worked out who would replace them as the club that's finished above us for the longest amount of time? I'm guessing it would be Manchester City?
